Yet another tailgate window question
I just recently inherited a '92 Ford Bronco XLT which is in pretty good
condition. I am having the same tailgate window problem that everyone
else has. The window goes down a little and then gets stuck. I can then
manually push it down a little before it catches and goes down by
itself. Well after reading all the posts on
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums and reading and looking at the pics
posted on http://www.superford.org/ i think I am going to try and
replace the motor gear.
Now I am not a car mechanic and don't have much experience with
tinkering with cars so please bear with me.
First I have to lower the window completely to then open the tailgate.
Once the tailgate is open:
1. When the tailgate is down and the access panel is off how do I get
the window to go up? (Assuming that the motor will work to push the
window up)
2. Do I need to remove the window completely to change out the motor
gear? Or if the window is in the full up posititon is that ok?
3. If I do need to remove the window should I take all the weather
stripping off.
Sorry for the newbie questions. I thank you for your time and advice in
advance!

Yet another tailgate window question
With the tailgate open, closing the driver's side latch will allow the motor to work. Just be very careful and help hold the glass up. You can change the motor with the window in place. Just be sure you have plenty of band-aids ready for the ripped up knuckles. It not easy getting your hands in there.
Yet another tailgate window question
I removed the window to replace mine. Lower the window, open the tailgate and remove the weatherstripping inside and out. Remove the access panel. Hold driver's side latch closed and have someone raise the window about halfway. Remove the 4 nuts attaching the glass to the channels. Carefully remove the window. Now you have access to the motor. I found the easiest way was to have the top of the tailgate under my arm so I could look down through the window channel to see what I was doing when removing the motor. It's not that difficult a job, just be careful with the window.

Q1 is answered in the caption of this pic and this one.
Q2 is answered in the caption of this pic, but after reading it, I think I'll rewrite it so it's clearer. If you can't move the glass with the motor, remove the nuts that hold the glass to the regulator tracks and slide it up. If the glass is up, it's not a problem to get to the motor screws.
