Headlight/Park Light Serious Problem Needs Resolved Fast
I don't know if any of you guys have experienced this but it needs fixed its a severe safety issue and im at a loss...
When i pull the headlight switch to park lights nothing comes on. so i have no marker lights or tail lights at this point. if i pull it all the way out for headlights w/ park lights i get only headlights. still no marker lights or tail lights. if i slowly push the switch back in toward park lights only they will come on with the headlights but if i hit a big bump all will go dark and i have to pull the switch all the way out real fast to be able to see and repeat. ive changed the switch multiple times with different switches one being brand knew and the problem remains.
There's something wrong with your parking lights, it's not the switch. There's a spot in there that if you catch it just right, the headlight circuit will feed the parking lights. Check your parking light fuse, I bet you'll find it's burnt out.
Could be a few things causing the issue, a shorted wire, trailer wiring issues, a buggered up light somewhere..... I'm actually hunting for the same issue on my dually right now.
i had a bad contact at one of my rear lights on the flatbed. i addressed the issue but didn't even think about checking the fuses.... why didn't i think of that
What does the switch connector look like? I had some issues with my lights, pulled the switch and the wiring connector was all melted to @#$% The contacts weren't connecting to the switch properly.
New switch and connector and all was good.
mine did the same thing and it ended up being the switch.so i did the headlight mod and ran them all through relays.the headlight switch is notorious for being weak.
Well I got one that will beat that! I got one taillight, the left turn signal flashes the left in front, and looks like hazards in rear, then the right flashes both reverse lights in the rear, and just one up front....

Yah that sounds pretty messed up.
I'm due for an inspection this month (oops kinda missed that as October starts in about 45 minutes...) and was doing a quick check on my lights last night. Headlight had blown a week ago and I had fixed that, blinkers, parking lights, and reverse seem to work fine. However, if I had the emergency flashers on, and stepped on the brakes, they'd stop flashing...? Actually as I think about that now, maybe it makes sense in the rear, but the front lights would stay solid too?
Huh... maybe its the lack of sleep and a few beers I've had, but it might make sense now (sure seemed like something was wrong last night) Can someone else check that out and report back? Put the emergency flashers on (hazard lights) and step on the brake, what do your lights do? Thanks!
well boys i feel like a retard..... i never noticed there was a fuse in the cab for the cab/marker lights.... and it was blown. i imagine it shorted and poped the fuse when the wire came loose on the rear light.... fixed that light and put a new fuse in and good as new....
