Temp control on MAX A/C

Can you adjust the temperature of the air output when running max AC or does it default to the coldest temperature?

I can adjust temperature on normal AC, but not MAX AC.

Thanks

Your truck may have come from the factory that way.
There IS a mod that many of us do that involves splicing into the RED vacuum tube behind the glove box and running a line to an (added) heater control valve-in this case this mod renders the normal AND max a/c position (the temp dial) not adjustible, but it sure makes the a/c colder!!
Mine will get to 37* air from the vent in the max position!

No problem with getting enough cold.

The problem is passengers as well as myself like the MAX setting so the Air recirculates and we dont smell the exhaust as much. But we dont always need it so frigid and would like to run on MAX but let the temp run a little warmer.

So far, it just seems that MAX has the default coldest setting without any adjustment to make it warmer.

Thanks

That's wierd, I can control the temp, even on max ac.
All it does on my truck is close the recirculate flap for the air intake, and leaves everything else alone.

You could look at your heater core lines to see if you have a shut off valve vacuum controlled. If so you can just disconnect it.

Yes, you can blend warm air in with the cool air when on Max A/C. All air will exit through the panel vents only.

Like Dan said, before I put the heater shut off valve I could have max ac on and get hot or cold air out of the vents. What year is your truck?

Truck is a Lariat 2003,

Thought I read somewhere that later years had different plumbing that puts out more cold and that there is a mod to accomplish this on earlier years.

Maybe there is a stuck valve somewhere that isnt actuating on MAX when I try to get warmer temperature ?

Follow your heater hoses, from the water pump over the engine to the firewall, if there is valve in the line, which I think there will be because I believe the 03's had the heater control valve, then I don't think you'll be able to control the temp without removing the vacuum line activating it and capping it off.

If you do have the valve you can just remove the vac line so the valve will not close in Max Air setting. If you do this be sure to plug the vac line.

This is kind of weird to me, if its factory installed heater control valve setup then it SHOULD be able to "mix" some warm air with the a/c air to get the temp you want.
On a side note I just remembered that there was some folks that spliced into the WHITE vacuum line behind the glove box door on earlier models and this makes ONLY the "max" position non-adjustible.
