Air recirculation mods?

Sometimes I want the vent fan on, without the AC and without exhaust from the beater in front of me (espescially while running the heater). Why ford hasn't had a "Recirculate" **** for quite a while is beyond me. Many other manufacturers still offer this.

Before I spend time researching this, anyone know which vaccum line controls whether air get's recirculated or not? I'd like to put a seperate switch somewhere to control this.

As an alternative, any harm to running the system in one of the AC positions without the compressor running? Adding a switch in line with the compressor clutch would allow this.

Thanks

Eric

Sorry, I can't help you, but I would really like to know why Ford doesn't have a recirculate button also. There are times I would like to run the A/C in recirculate mode while still having temperature control. The only way to have recirculate is in the Max AC position, which doesn't give temp control anymore. On a warm night to end up freezing yourself out, if you want to keep the outside smells away (got to love some of that farm land you drive by)

Also, there are times when I would like to run the heater in recirculate mode, especially when following an old Mercedes 300D that stinks to high heaven.

I'll hunt down the vacuum lines and post my findings. I did the heater cutoff mod, and T'd the valve off the red or white line (don;t remember now) I can only get heat in defrost, floorboard or a combo of the 2. I think I'll run 2 swithces, one for recirculate, and 1 for heat control. It doesn't get really cold here in Southern California. Might see a couple nights in the 30's in a year.

I didn't realize there was no temp control in max AC. Learn something new everyday.

I'd rather smell farms than bad exhaust. My grandparents had a dairy in Minnesota, I guess I got used to the smell, to this day it doesn't bother me.

Hmmm, your truck and mine seem to be the same except I have a short bed. Mine was built in May 04, maybe you have the job 1 build earlier in the year and the Max A/C worked different then

I recall reading on here several months ago that the Max A/C didn't have temp control anymore, like mine is, but maybe others have a different system. If so, I would like to convert mine so that I could control the temp!
