Says it's good for 99-03 superdutys. Do the excursions already have a form of this? Summer's coming.

would be helpful if they provided some actual results of the temp drop of the air coming out of the vents.

they say 10* temp reduction of the "duct" but if you look at the path of the air flow around the heater core and the AC there is not much contact with the heater core "duct" when the blend door is diverting air to the AC.

not saying this valve doesn't work, just curious how much it drops the air temp coming out of the vent.

my guess would be less then the 10*

not my pic so ignore the "cut " notations. but you can see the air path if you study the pic.

Yes, Excursions already have this.

I don't know how much it actually reduces the temp, but it does make a very marked difference. I compared my previous '02 F250 against my buddy's '99 F250 and there was a big difference.

Even 8 degrees is big tho, especially when it's friggen triple digits outside.

I'll hit my buddy up for you and see if he took any before and after temp readings.

I bought theirs instead of OEM or Dorman when mine went out. Cant say the difference because it went out in November so I can't compare it from one hot day to another, but it works

would be interesting to know.
I am a HVAC newb but if understand correctly the way to measure AC performance is the temperature deferential from inlet air temp to air discharge temp ?

that is why the AC max feature on cars recirculates the cabin air instead of pulling in the outside hot air. cool air in, cooler air out.

Honestly Camo, I would bet you know more than I do. I just know the results on my buddy's '99 truck.

IIRC, all the vacuum actuated valve does is detour hot coolant from the heater core, allowing a cooler AC discharge.

I just got back from a walk, so I'll send a PM to Andy and ask him to post here so you can get first-hand info.

Edit: Der, I'll just tag him. @Fat Diesel

Sorry guys but I didn't do, or don't remember any temp readings. IMO, it's a good mod to switch off the coolant flow under Max AC. Lots of OEM's have done it. 17 years later I still haven't charged the system and only have replaced the AC clutch assy once. The AC works great.

I don't think that's accurate.
Our 2002 Excursion did not have one from factory.

In the 7.3Ls, it's VERY rare to have a valve already installed from factory but it does happen. Usually it's the later years (2001-2003) and the fully loaded option trucks. I don't think it being an Excursion or not made a difference.

Once they went to the 6.0L, it was much more common to see the valve. 6.0L guy should almost always check before buying a valve. 7.3L guy might not need to check but should buy a lotto ticket if he has one when he goes to install.
