Standard cab short bed would swap, you will find the front bumper mounting horns are a little bit different, so if you wanted to put the 85 bumper on it, there will be a bit of messing around to get it to work, but everything else should be the same.
Thanks, nobody could ever tell me if Ford changed the frame when they changed the body style. I have been looking for a replacement frame for my 85 because it bent the frame at the radius arm mount. The previous owners also jumped the truck and cracked the frame before I bought it but I fixed it but now I'm just going to start fresh.
The cabs, clips, and boxes get swapped around on these all the time. It isn't all that unusual to find newer clips on older trucks due to parts availability and owner choices. the boxes get swapped for the same reason, as do the cabs. The holes are all in the same places.
You will have to swap fuel tank sending units, and possibly the whole fuel tank. If you do that, I would go ahead and bring the wiring from the earlier truck over and clip it onto the later frame so everything plugs in. The gauges and sending units work differently after 86.
