Well this morning had time to clean my EGR valve, it wasn't as bad as I've seen pictures but it had built up enough were it needed cleaning. I also cleaned the piping were the valve goes, took some time but got it as clean as possible. The only issue I had was after installing the valve back on and connecting the wires I went to start the truck and it hessitated enough that I turned it off and let it settle for a moment. When I tried again it started back up just fine. My question would be was it to clean or was there some residule carb cleaner that I used to clean the valve and pipe. With that hesitation did it hurt anything or was it just adjusting to the clean valve/pipe?
Ya it ran fine after I got it started, the only problem I really had was halfway through the cleaning it started to down pour rain, I was using a baby food jar to soak the valve, I just stuck that under the truck and covered the top while I worked and got soaked on the piping.
it aint tat critical as long as it's not swimming underwater. if ur paranoid like i am, maybe u could pull it out, and use a can of air blower and blow thru the holes. jus to make sure it's completely dry. remember to unplug ur egr valve first. then have a beer! too bad the margarita hula girls dun come wif the beer. lol.
