transfer case on e40d and zf5
are they the same or different?? i spoke to a guy with an auto trans who converted and he said the one on the e40d was huge and the case on the zf was small.
i have a superduty also and the transfer cases are the same for auto and manual.

The same ones will fit each. There were two different ones put behind E4OD and ZF5 that I know of. They are Borg Warner 1356 and 4407. The 4407 is a larger case but essentially the same internals. The way the rear driveshaft attaches is different too but either will fit either trans.

Yeah. Not sure what you are working with though. It's absolutely easiest with a donor in the ame cab configuration as your driver. Even easier if the t cases are the same. Then it is just a simple shaft swap in addition to the trans. Otherwise you have to lenghten the rear shaft and shorten the front because the ZF is shorter than an E4OD.
