looking at the front of the engine on the right side the block right of the water pump, is stamped with a 61 or it s a 67 and right below it is stamped a 352.. does that mean its a 352?
from the vin it should be a 360 i believe..
i was kind of hoping it was a 360 so i could make it a 410.. if its a 352 what whould be the best way to spend about $2500 on the engine?
Vin # F25YRG54477
the codes in the door are
131= wheel base
R = color code.. (dont know the color) its a yellowish color so i assume its yellow.. haha
F254 = f250.. 4?
D4 = body
G = trans
38 = axle.. 3:73
6900= GVW
170 = Net hp at 4100 rpm
4100 = at RPM
74 = DSO?

Reason: more info
Many FE motors of all displacements have "352" cast in the front. Measuring the bore and stroke is the only reliable way to determine displacement on almost all motors these days.
I measured the stroke on my FE by using a wooden dowel. Remove the #1 and #4 spark plugs, rotate the engine to TDC, and measure the difference from the top of the cylinder to the plug hole. I thought I had a 352, but after the measurement found that I have a 390. There is a casting number on the side of the block which can tell you the yr of manufacture but still give you multiple options on engine size. It's just like 85 says, measuring bore and stroke is the only reliable way. Good luck.
Sweet info. I've been reading on the vin decoding , you guys are always on it! Thanks... anyone know a good place in san Diego area that's knowledgable in building these engines up? And paint?
Sure, you can make a 60's FE physically fit in an '07 Crown Vic. I put a 7.3L Powerstroke in mine. I also put a 4.6L in a '74 F250 where an FE used to be.....and the 4.6 takes up way more real estate under the hood.
It's the "getting the power to the wheels" that is going to take the most thought although there are joints making adapters to stuff a modern transmission to an old FE.
My guess is either a mis-posted bunch of pictures, posted in the wrong forum, or not really sure what he's looking at.
