I quickly cleaned my EGR valve around 38k, I didn't have enough time to really clean the valve, I did change the gaskets. What is to best way to fully clean the valve and area, and what is everyone's best time to clean the valve. How can you tell when the valve might need cleaning before really getting sutted up?

A ton of Idling, and so on. Some here clean it every other oil change, and then, some when ever it's acting up. You can re-use the o-rings and gasket a few times.

Pulled mine out at 30,000 miles only to find that it was hardly dirty! Put on a new set of gaskets and popped it back in. No cleaning required. Well time has past, and now I have 96,000 on the valve so I figured it was time for another look. Wasted time once again. I did wipe it off with a shop towel before I put it right back in, with new gaskets! Intake looked just as good. VERY light coating of soot. 2005 F250 CC 4X4...
