Downpipe

My downpipe was delivered from clay this evening.I'm impressed that it got here so soon as I just ordered it Sunday night. Anyways I was thinking I would use a blow torch to get the old one off ) haha. On a serious note how much time should I set aside for this? I'll have a sawsall and I got the 2 piece dp.

It was actually the easiest project I've done on mine excluding the 6637. I did one cut from the bottom as hig up as I could reach. Out with the old, in with the top of the new, cut firewall just a hair, bent it back, in with the new bottom. I had a port a power on standby but didn't need it. Good luck.

Make sure you've got good blades for your reciprocating saw. It will save you frustration.

Thanks for the tips. Lots of small things i wouldn't think of. I don't have porta power so a prybar will have to suffice.

So I just got her installed. I do have a slightly different approach to getting the old dp off. Instead of cutting as high up as you can I made a cut at an easily attainable spot where the dp meets the exhaust. Went through pretty quick. Then I loosened the clamp were the dp meets turbo. Since the head of the dp was too big to fit through the firewall I had my brother push it up enough from the bottom so I could cut the head off. Once that was off it fell on it's own the ground. I only suggest this way because it can be challenging to reach up into the firewall and make a cut halfway up the dp. After that was off it went in easily. I used an icebreaker bar to bend the firewall out of the way. I didn't feel a noticeable difference in performance or turbo noise. Granted she already had straight pipes and air intake. Perhaps I will get some better fuel milage. Anyways thanks for the tips. That's the last of the inexpensive mods. Gauges and injectors are next on the list.
