Just another soft top question, sorry I am a newbie. Which soft top is this: Soft top
I really like this bikini style, and i was just wonder if all soft tops can be setup like this or just one brand. Thanks!
Gavin
Looks like the Juice's rig with a Kayline top. Check here for the company that sells them now. I want one for this summer but the funds just are not availble.
Be prepared to drill approx 100 holes into your body, just so you know. Their are other systems out there that dont require as much or any drilling, just gotta search. If you go with the cap style though they all require the drilling.
The pictured is a soft top from Specialty Tops. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard handles them. Approximate Price $490.00 I installed this top last year. Lots of holes ( Drilling). But Man its worth it. Nice Top.
Seatbelts won't work if you have a '92 or newer Bronco. In '92 Ford went to shoulder harness-style belts for the left and right rear passengers. The center is still a lap belt. The shoulder harnesses attach to the stock hard top.
The pic that was posted doesnt have a lot of hole drilled. You can clearly see the metal rails that are on the sides to which the top snaps. The only holes drilled would be on the tailgate.
My question is this though, What keeps someone from coming up with a simple piece of metal that goes across the top of the tailgate right outside the slot for the window. That way the back of the top could snap to that?! I dont see why it wouldnt work. A little weather stripping on the bottom to keep the rain out during driving and to keep it from scratching the Gate...
Who wants to go into business with me?! We could make a killing. I know lots of people dont get those soft tops due to the drilling.
Ok I take that back... He did drill alot of holes. However, I am even more confused now! What the heck are the alluminum rails for if he is drilling holes in the bronco? I have seen tops where there are rails with snaps already on them and they bolt to the stock hard top bolt holes. Then you can make your own tailgate rail like he did! (which by the way I just saw, and I therefore be removing my foot from my mouth! there we go!)
anyone heard of the top I was talking about... it says the only holes to be drilled are in the tailgate and using the Juices method those can be done away with!
Skyler makes a soft top that has runners that bolt into the hard tops holes. I think that at the tailgate they use velcro of some sort. www.skylercorp.com check it out the only down side is that its a fastback style that you can't use the rear seats so your truck becomes a two seater when ever it rains. Not sure why they haven't created some thing in the middle a top thats full like the one you pictured with the runners that skyler has. From what i've seen over the last year on here alot of bronco owners want that combination. Even i would like that. They would sell alot more if you could use the rear seat when you have the top on. I think that i will have to fabricate something. Oh well good luck with your top.
Does any one know if the STC soft top rolls up like that? Does the sklyer top need more driling the the STC one, I was fine with a few wholes, but to much drilling makes me nervous.
The skyler top requires no drilling, but you cant buy one untill someone buys the company out. Its for sale so production has been haulted since summer of last year. There's a fast back type that only requires drilling in the tailgate which can be avoided with that trick. Anything cap like for some stupid reason requires you to drill all the holes and ive never found one that will bolt to the factory hard top holes and trust me Ive looked alot, even custom shops cant find anything. Time for one of us to built one and make a few million $$$ I myself prefer the fast back type and dont mind not using my back seat in the rain.
