Just made a 3000 mile trip and the only problem was the tranny

Oh yah I must share Im averaging 16mpg at 68 mph!! Everything is from the factory IP & injectors 1992 F-250 with 366000 miles!!!!! Only thing i did was slapped a turbo in it 3 months ago!!!

Is your OD light flashing when the tranny is acting up? If so your trans computer should be throwing a trouble code. Pull the code and see what it is. It very well may just be a minor electrical problem that these transmissions are so noted for.

X2 on pulling codes.

Is that the originaly tranny? if not how many miles on the tranny? if it is original then it might just be time for a rebuild.

I just read in another thread that if the e4od trans computer stops working all together, it will still work in 2nd, OD, and reverse. Maybe his trans computer is crapping out.

not a record for a E40D though......but getting close.

you drove the truck 68MPH in limp mode.ah man.your supposed to just take 'er easy in safety mode.
if everything is original, then at least nothing owes ya anything @ them miles.
hows the speedo and tach working? any blown fuses?

366k on an E40D and it still gets called a POS.a C6 fails around 200k and you hear; well rebuild her, shes bulletproof...........i give up.

LOL, F250 I think you've about got me over to your way of thinking. I was all set to do a zf5 swap, had me a donor truck lined up and everything. Then I got to thinking about how much time it would take me to do all of that myself and how much time I don't have with work and 5 kids! I have decided to go with an optishift controller and see if that cures my electrical troubles and if not I'll buy a remaned e4od and a new flexplate and call it a day! I mean how bad can they be, I'm at 238k and still driving it everyday!

You and I may not agree on some things, but I agree here. Many of the issues we see with these trucks (hard starts, gp issues, etc) are just 20 years of neglect, age, corrosion and so on. Guys drive an automatic for 2-300K and when it eventually dies, all of a sudden it's crap. Yet the fluid was never changed, the warning lights have been blinking for months or years, and on the list goes.

I love standards as much as the next guy, but I'll be damned if I drive one to plow with. The sort of plowing I do, I figure I shift on average every 30-45 seconds, for anywhere from 8-20 hours at a time. No damn way I want a standard for that!!

The tranny has maybe 60k on it since it was rebuilt I regularly do my maintence! I pulled the wiring harness to find two burnt prongs and a plug full of oil. I repaired the plug cleaned and dried it out now she is back to good again!! I will be replacing the sylenoid pack harness and coputer in 3 weeks I have to make a trip to Denver Colorado in the morning (964) miles one way. I'm hoping for the best she has done good since I fixed the plug. I've drove about 500 miles since I fixed it and no problems!!!

Just bought a 1994 F-250 4x4 with 140k for 2500 needs radiator altenator and batteries Cant wait to play!!!

I have a little trouble believing those mpg numbers with 366k on the original fuel parts, and going that fast. Turbo or not, I don't care.

And my IP on my 1990 is also the original with 377k miles. On the 3rd set of injectors though.
