I just had an EGR cooler delete installed and was under the impression that I would get a CEL no matter what (I don't have it tuned yet). I have not driven very far, but no CEL has showed up. Is this normal? Does it come and go?
just did my delete last week. mine is an 04. i used sinister. they said that 2004 wouldnt throw a cel. even with the valve gone. so i didnt get a programmer. so far it hasnt. btw love it so far.
from their web site:
Q: If I Install this kit on my vehicle, will it “throw a code” or “CEL” (Check engine light)?
A: It should not cause a check engine light on 2003-04. It may cause a check engine light on 2005-07 however there are a few solutions. On the 2005 you can leave a working EGR valve in place and that should fix the problem. The 2006-07 you may need to add a SCT tuner with one of our custom tunes.
From what I have read it is best to leave the valve in correct? I have the block off plate that I could install, but I think I have read that it messes with how your fan works.
