the front system (radio) must be set to use the headphones press the station select buttons 3 and 5 at the same time and than make sure the front and back unit showes the headphone icon an it should work.
I have an '03 EB with the DVD system also. All the brochures, printed and online, show that these systems come with wireless headphones. When I picked mine up, I was handed a box with the remote and two sets of wired headphones. I asked my dealer about this, and all he had to say was "This is all that came with this vehicle, and I really don't know anything about wireless headphones." I sent an email to Ford's website, and never got any kind of reply. Does anybody have any info about this? Who should I contact for more info? Any help would be appreciated.
I can respond with what is in earlier models... maybe similar...
The Entertainment system with the VCR had a switch located in the overhead console... open the screen and there was a slide switch... 3 positions... the system would send to 2 different FM stations or not at all... If yours has the slide switch, try it in different positions with a movie running...
the 3&5 buttons are to disable the rear seat radio controls.... The Wired headphones in the rear seat control pad are for the radio as well...
I just bought an 03' with the rear DVD (05/24/03). The dealer gave me the wired head phones. My brother bought an 03' back on July 02' that came with the wireless headphones. I tried his wireless head phones in my 03', when they were with in 5 ft of the DVD player I received a faint hiss. When the wireless headphones were moved over 5ft away there was a very destinctive mute. Sounds to me that there was definately something there when the headphone were with in 5ft of the running player (Note: I did not press any buttons while testing the headphones).
They made some changes mid year. One of them is a change from wired to wireless headphones. Another one that I missed out on was dual front climate control. I'm annoyed because I just got my expy and the mid year was availlable but I got one built before that. The dealerships apparantly don't explain these things to the salesman if they even know. I find it annoying when I know more about the car than the salesman. Maybe they should stop smoke breaks and read their own borchures.

You're right. I finally received a phone call this am in response to my email. The customer service rep I spoke to told me the same things. I reamed him out for not making this info known to their salesmen. I bought this 03 EB after looking at the brochure on their sales floor. They put out the new brochures, but still have first generation 03's on the lot, and never informed the salesmen of the changes. I let him know I was highly dissatisfied after I bought the truck to find out these new features weren't there, and told him I wanted to lodge a complaint against Ford Motor Co. for doing a poor job of passing the new info on, and that I thought this amounted to misrepresentation of their products. I doubt this will ever go any further, but at least I got to vent a little. I really like this truck, but this is just one more reason to consider another brand next time around.
I have learned more from your posts than from our dealership in 6 months. We are in the same boat....asked for and paid for a factory installed wireless DVD unit. That is not what we received. Has anyone received any satisfaction from your dealership? As of today, we have not. They are talking spending $4000 to replace the unit and wiring harness with a wireless one from the factory. One source says that a wireless (tan) dvd unit is not available. Is this so?
