Timing help
I'm trying to check/set timing on my 96 F250 HD w/ 5.8w. I've found the spout, i've found and cleaned timing marks on the H. balancer. Now my problems are I cant remember what plug wire to conect the timing light clip to (I think #1), it been about 10-12 years since i've had to time a engine. My other problem is I can't figure out where the pointer is coming off the block. Oh and one last thing does anyone know which way the distributor rotates for advanceing/retarding the timing.

look down through the tensiouner and water pump pulley should see pointer number 1 wire yes i believe left rotation in the distributor move right for advance left for retard im not one hundred percent but i also believe 10 degrees is base time hope it helped. again may be a little off here myself
