timing problems
having problems timing my 86 f150. the engine is the inline 6 with the tfi-iv ignition system. when i hook up a timing light to the truck, i discover that the timing marks are far apart. the spout is disconnected, i mark the appropriate timing mark on the timing chain cover and the notch on the crankshaft. the result is that the two marks are 180 degrees from each other! when the distributor is turned in either direction, the result is the crankshaft marker barely moving in either direction. it just appears that i could draw a straight line from the timing marker down to the crankshaft marker. please help!
timing problems
The timing mark on the pulley is a very small mark , its not one of the big notches . If the pulley is dirty you may have to clean it off to find the timing mark , its just a small indentation . If you have the timing light hooked to no 1 spark plug , the SPOUT disconnected , chances are you ll find the mark .
