The reason I'm posting again....
Anyway, it is also because it is getting to the end of the year, and for those that know me, it is the time that I start planning my upgrades and repairs. I get my upgrade cash in december each year, sooo... I've been a researching.
Prelimilarily, some of the things I wish to install is a upgraded and better on board air system, The new 4130 axle shafts up front, some light rust repairs, a replacement rear reciever, new brakelines, wheel bearing hubs, brakes, some COP's and maybe, just maybe this year I will get my cargo basket. Headers and a Y pipe would be nice, but I want to find something that is durable and will not break the bank.
In any case, since I'm going to to pull the front axle housing out for rust and repaint, along with new hubs and aftermarket shafts, I might as well reseal the entire thing. Will be doing a steering rebuild also. XRF stuff.
I figure I can do a write up combining that and The pictures from when I installed the air lockers into a SuperDuty Dana 50 Upgrade thread/post.
Not many people try to upgrade the animal, as they just throw in the towel and go rebuild a Dana 60 and install it. That part makes no sense to me, and I have studied it well. Sure the 50 has a little less torque (5000 vs 5500) rating, but it has a higher weight rating. Ah, well. That is a argument that can go on and on and on....
I never did get around to posting the air locker install stuff.
So this is the kind of things y9ou will be seeing starting December.
Well, you may very well be right. I've been looking into this for a bit.
I have found that I not only broke a outer shaft the other day, but it took out the ESOF lockout hub with it.
I will start a new thread to post my pros and cons on whether I should go for that kind of upgrade
