Cummins 12v ZF6 Excursion
New here. Getting close to finishing my swap. I have a 2001 Excursion V10 XLT 4x4. It now has a Cummins 12 valve, Southbend dual disc clutch, ZF 6 speed, and manual t/case.
Installed exhaust today and took it for first test drive
WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Still have a few details to take care of. A/C hose, cruise control, interior(had to replace trans tunnel), etc.

Cummins fits nicely. I found the plumbing of the individual systems took the longest. Took a day to remove engine, trans., t/case and exhaust. Another day to put the Cummins in. The trans is another story(maybe different thread). Then I had to remove the fuel pump from the tank and run a tube from the access cover to bottom of tank. I used the stock fuel lines up to the front where the gas filter was. I cut the line and finished with fuel hose. The 12v has engine driven lift and injection pumps. The power steering high pressure line is the Dodge line on the pump side. I cut the Ford end from the steering box and used a compression fitting from Napa to join the two. I used Dodge intercooler tubes(shortened) and the Ford intercooler. I re-used the stock radiator and the engine driven Dodge fan. Id recommend buying the radiator hose kit from Diesel conversion specialists(fordcummins). I liked the fact that the section close to the a/c compressor is metal, instead of hose. The upper is just oe Dodge. I used one of the original heater hoses and found the other at Napa. I had to modify the fan shroud to fit. I raised it vertically 3/4" and trimmed it to 4" deep. Then heated the upper lip to bend it to 90 degrees of radiator instead of angled down. I bought an exhaust kit for the 7.3 Excursion and the down pipe for a third gen Dodge. I used an exhaust manifold and turbo from a 2007. Any third gen would do(gives the needed clearance for heater box). I had to customize the down pipe to fit the Ford body. During the mods to make the trans fit, the floor was modified which also gave the clearance for the 4" exhaust. The Excursion passenger floor is shaped to give more legroom than the F series. The 12V has an engine driven vacuum pump which I used for the brake booster and heater controls. I used the alternator and a/c compressor from the Dodge. The alternator is externally regulated, so one needs to be added. I am sure I forgot something. Soon as I can figure out how to add photos, I will.

Update
I have about 220 miles on it now . The power is a HUGE improvement. I can tip in the throttle in overdrive and pass with no effort(no more flooring it and hoping to pass before oncoming traffic). The fuel mileage is also great, about a quarter tank so far. I have 3.73 gears, 35" tires, and cruise at 1500 RPM in O/D at 65mph (now if I could only do 65 ). My next project is the cruise control. Planning on a 1200 mile trip in November.I am putting off the a/c until spring.

Was having a problem with the horn not working. Found out that for some reason Ford decided to ground the horn switch through the cruise control actuator. So when I temporarily removed cruise to relocate to other side of engine compartment I disconnected the ground for the horn! I cant even come close to finding a reason why they did it that way, but FYI. I put a jumper in at the cruise connector to give a path for the ground until I have time to mount the actuator to the other side.

I have the Procomp lift with new front and rear springs. I added a rear Hellwig sway bar and air bags. I didnt notice much of a change in front suspension height after the swap. I had the lift for about two years with the V10. The current pics are with the V10. I will post some current side views after I give the beast a bath. If memory serves me, I think that kit was 6" front, 4" rear. When I bought it originally the front springs were shot and the axle was always on the bump stops.

I had to fill up. Unfortunately when I was doing some interior work I accidentally bumped the trip meter reset!
I am totally filled up and will update with mileage in a couple weeks. I drive about forty miles a day and thats how long it has taken for the first tank, and it wasnt full (about twenty five gallons). WAAYYY better than the V10!!!
