C6 going out?

My C6 is acting weird. It wont lock into park. I will put it into park and if its flat the truck will not roll away. If there is a slant at all it will "Ca-chunk, Ca-chunk, Ca-chunk" as it starts rolling whatever direction. I dont have any problems with drive, it goes in and shifts into all 3 gears smoothly. Occasionally right after i fire it up and put it in Reverse it engages rather heavily and other times it doesn't. My Tranny shop thinks that the bands just might need adjusting. (That would be sweet) haha What do you guys think? Anyone had this problem?

Is it a true ca-chunk or more of a clicking? I'd make sure your shift linkage is adjusted properly. Sometimes it binds and prevents the vehicle from going all the way into park, so the catch just bounces over the notches in the ring gear instead of seating. With the straight cut reverse gears the linkage might cause the issue you're experiencing there also. A good shop should be able to tell asap.

The only time the band (there is only one) is engaged in a C6 is in 2nd gear so that would have nothing to do with reverse. I'd stay far away from a trans shop that made that statement. If it's not a linkage problem you can remove the trans tail shaft housing to inspect the park mechanism.

Its more of a clicking. And sometimes if its running it will slip from "Park" into reverse. Almost like it wont fully go up into park.
