Hi all,
Went to put a CD in my factory stereo (01 ex) and something went haywire. It partially accpeted the CD but it didnt go any further, I could see the edge of the CD so I tried pushing it in a little further thinking it would "take it" -- it didnt' I now had a CD in transision of being placed into slot number one of the stereo. The stereo says "CD error" is there any chances of recovering my CD's and fixing this issue? I have tried ejecting, loading, turning stereo off then back on. Nothing has worked. THe AM/FM works but the CD only reads CD error----HELP!!!!!
This happened to me on a regular basis so I changed out the Head Unit for an aftermarket w/ navigation.
The CD changer is an "add-on" unit that fits on top of the radio. It is connected to the radio via a ribbon cable. My 6 CD changer was pretty easy to get to once you pull the entire unit our of the dash. Just a couple of screws hold the two together.
I pulled it out about a half dozen times to "fix" this but never found a good long term solution except the "replacement". If you do pull it out be careful when you separate the CD from the radio portion as the ribbon cable is not very long.
