7.3 remote start?

Is it possible to have a remote start on a 2001 7.3 diesel? I was thinking about this earlier and can't figure out how it would work.

Yes, and it works great. I have a clifford alarm with remote start. You do need to purchase a seperate module to activate the glow plugs. Check with Car toys or any big car stereo shop in your area.

They do make them for our trucks and it doesn't require a seperate module for the glow plugs as you can program a delayed start with a Bit writer.

The only thing it really modifies is the PATS. They'll more than likely need a cut, programmed key to bypass the PATS module to allow the remote start to work. They may already have a module they can wire in to bypass it though....

DEI (Viper, Clifford, and a few of the other popular ones) are the ones to go with as they have the best technology built in and are tough to beat.
