I went to pull out of my driveway last night and NO BRAKES!! well.. there were brakes but hard pedal. jumped out of the truck I thought maybe the belt flew off. the vacuum pump was makin all kinds of mean nasty ugly noises. So my question is this... Has anyone used the doorman replacement pump with any success? It is much cheaper that the Motorcraft, but... I dont want to buy a piece of crap. So should I spend the 200 on the motorcraft or should I spend the 120 on the doorman?

 

I have the Dorman in mine, but it has only been in in there for a couple months. Works fine so far though...

i have a napa pump on my 88. it has around 180k miles on it now.

 

Dorman on the 96 and 94. No problems.

One thing good about the pump puking is that I found out that the noise I have been hearing wasnt a wrist pin or piston like I was afraid of... It has been getting louder and louder the last week...
