How can you tell a Dana 60 from a Dana 70 by looking at it? What is a H/D Dana 70? Never seen or heard of any such thing, and there is no parts catalog listing for one either.

As I said, if the truck was a domestic special order, it will have a 6 digit DSO code.

The code was necessary originally because vehicles with special equipment do not have the equipment listed in parts catalogs. If an F250 w/a Dana 70, there is no parts catalog listing for that application.

So, the dealer would contact Ford, pass along the DSO. Ford would look up the code, then tell the dealer what was special and where to get the parts if not listed in the catalog.

Until you come up with the hidden frame VIN, compare the VIN on the registration with the VIN on the Warranty Plate to see if they match, you won't win any argument with me. Pics would be a major plus.

I know more about the history of Ford Motor Co, their policies and operations than most FTE members, cuz I did the partsjazz for 35 years (1962/97), have piles of Ford literature and have been in the old car hobby and have owned 100's of vehicles since 1956, including two dents, one I bought new.

The rear has a big 70 stamped on it and from the dana site this means dana 70.

The DSO code will be found on the 3rd line of the Warranty Plate.
And while you're looking for the DSO code, compare the VIN on the registration with the VIN on the Warranty Plate to see if they match.
