New excursion owner
Truck has a few problems. The biggest is the rear springs. It had a rear tire blow out at sometime and I believe caused a excessive spring warp because the truck drives down the road a little sideways. He current owner and friend had a mechanic look at it an came to the same conclusion. Abs light in on and throwing a b1155 & b1230 code. Check engine light is also on throwing a p0500, p0171, p0174 codes. Engine is running lean and has a problem with it's vehicle speed sensor.
We have a 2000 budget to fix/modify. With another few thousand a little down the road.
It's the wife's truck and she has a list of wants.
2-3" of lift with at least 33" tires.
Dual exhaust
Recover leather seats.
2003 style headlight/hids
F250 grill
Where I need help is with the lift & spring replacement choices.
You should be able to get it for $4,500 or so unless the dug their heels in at $5,000.
Regardless, I say go for it...this is the perfect place for you and your to be new truck...
Btw, limited ot xlt?
Thought about swapping out with some f250 springs but there is so many codes out there. And will they net me enough height to clear 33" tires? Or should I just go with a lift kit that replaces all four springs? This will be my wife's dd with little off road and no towing. Any one recommend a kit?
Planning on the rear sway bar and new shocks as we'll as a standard "tune up" as well

Depending on how much lift you want, The V/X code or V/B code springs may be what you need. With either you'll be able to clear 305/70/16s without issue. You can already clear them as it stands, but you can do it better with either set of springs.
These springs will also cost considerably less than a lift kit and give you the same effect without modifying steering components.
Stewart_H is THE go to guy when it comes to this mod as he's done a ton of research and even went so far as to document it here on FTE. I'll send him this way.
Congrats on your new truck!

One more at the desired height compared to her current ride.

And one of the driver side rear spring. The tire blew out on a po(not my friend he one before) you can see the leafs all out of alignment.

The wife decided on a 4" lift. We put the truck on jack stands at +2 and +4 to she how easy/hard it would be getting in and out.
What I'm looking for now is advise on how to lift it. I'd like to keep the budget to under a $1000. I know I'll need new rear springs. Should I try to piece something together or look at a kit?
Pro-comp front spring 22210: $124.29 each
Pro-comp rear spring 22415: $134.95 each
This totals to $518.48 for just springs
Zone adjustable track bar: $99.99
Pro-comp drop pitman arm: $89.37
Pro-comp U-bolt: $48.34 each/2 sets needed
This totals to $804 before shocks
Anyone have any suggestions on shocks?
For a lift it sounds like you are on track with your budget. Some of the lifts that say 4" end up being 6" on the Ex as it is 2" lower than a F250 to start with. If you lift 6" the 33's will look to small. Most aftermarket spring lifts ride extremely stiff. Stiffer than I or especially DW would tolerate.
We did a V/mod B spring upgrade with 4.5" spring hangers/6" blocks and the ride is amazing both unloaded or loaded towing at maximum capacity. For the lift we went with ICON components and have been extremely satisfied. If you go 6" you may get driveline vibrations. I think you will also need to extend the sway bar end links.
You can get them from Autozone WITH a lifetime warranty. They come in stock and the 5100 series lifted applications. I have 5100s all around and love them....
