02 E350 extended, 5.4l. Is it printed on the transmission somewhere? I called the dealer (without the vin) one day and just by year and model he said it had an E40D, but it just doesn't shift like one to me. Do i need to call back with VIN # or is there an easier way i can tell like it being printed somewhere?
It's on the data tag in the driver's door opening. Under "TR" is either a "U" or an "E." "U" means 4R70W and "E" means 4R100. Both were used in the 5.4L E series.
It's a 4R75E, or a 4R70E, or a 4R75W. Since I didn't know I didn't answer. But you want an answer, that's the best I could do.
Or maybe this would help: The first link doesn't have the answer. Go to the second. It's called "trying to figure out what transmission I have." Let me google that for you
The door sticker on my '08 E350 5.4 says Trans Code Q. Which one is that?

If you were referring to the above post you're wrong. The last year the 4r100 trans was built was 2004. It was long gone before his 2008 E350 was built.

According to the fordparts.com site, it has a 4R75W. So I guess the TransGo 4R100 reprogramming kit I got will have to go back. Looks like they don't even make one for the 4R75W.
