Hey guys well a couple months ago i got in a accident with my 89 F-250 and now its getting repainted and rust fixed and new front clip for free, with a little insurance money left over. The motor runs really strong, fired up in 3 seconds or less at -20*. Its only got 150xxx and i know the previous owner personally. Anyways i got a hyper max turbo for it, the old kind, and i am thinking of putting head studs, water methanol, intercooler, and bigger exhaust. And is there any upgrades i can do to my turbo so it whistles really loud cause that is the best noise ever invented. I'm looking for good milage, power, and mainly reliablity. Also thinking about ceramic coated pistons? any ideas are appreciated!
P.S. no i'm not gonna sell it buy a powerstroke and put a chip in it. I like the old body style and hows its all mechanical, and the way it sounds.
i wouldn't get too carried away with building the idi up for gobs of power.if you want modern diesel power, then you need to start with direct injection imho.
while she's out though,i would suggest the cam from type four.she helps the turbo spool a little quicker and gives her more off the line grunt, and one has to think this would improve fuel economy as well.
i know if my engine ever needs to come out for any reason, she's not going back in without the custom regrind cam.
