Looking for the temp sending unit

I recently purchased a 65 ford 100 and am having trouble finding the temp sending unit. Where it seems it would be located there is a plug, but no wire. The engine is a rebuilt. Does anyone have a picture handy or perhaps could describe where it is located. Thanks!!!

I know others will ask, but we need a bit more info.

What Engine?

Does it have the sweep package with gauges, or the round one?

Without at least the first piece I don't think anyone can help NumberDummy may correct me on this.

It is located just behind the distributor on my '66 352 V8. It screws into a water passage in the intake manifold.

Straight 6 240

Hey, thanks. Yeah, the engine may be important... It is a straight 6 240. The gauges are round.
There is a plug on the intake manifold, which is where it seems to belong. The plug is the correct size and shape, just no wires to it. Is there somewhere else I should be looking as well?

Thanks again, this forum is AWESOME!

Is there water in your truck's intake manifold? No, so don't install the temperature sender there.

It either threads into the head, or into the block.

water in the manifold

Yes, there is water running to the manifold, which made me think that was where it belonged. I was not sure if that was the only option. I will look again. Any suggestion on where to look on the head/block? I feel like I am looking right at it and just not seeing it....
Thanks again!!!!!
