Stinky I had to replace the ignition module. I also had to figure out the wiring harness in my truck and figured out that the guy who owned it before me added another harness that i didnt even need in the truck. So i had to bypass that wiring harness and simplify everything. Now that this has happened i know excatly what to look for and do. MAke sure everything has power. Look up the wiring diagram

Yes - there should be (someone correctly if I'm wrong...) a 1.7 ohm ballast resistor inline with the coil primary (positive) wire.

Some of the factory wiring harnesses have a ballast resistor built into them that can go bad - you can't find it unless you unwrap the two-miles of tape off the harness in your dash. Again someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's a heavier-gauge pink wire.

After I toasted a few Duraspark modules I picked up an MSD Streetfire ignition for about $100 - no ballast resistors required, and installation is pretty simple because they provide you with a wiring diagram that tells you which factory connectors to cut off and splice to the Streetfire unit. Plus you get multiple spark under 3,000 rpm and you can run whatever coil you want.

MSD sold me a malfunctioning unit and sent me a free one and I've been running it for two years now without a problem.
