my abs light is on, came up with a code saying its the right front abs wheel speed sensor. i picked up a motorcraft replacement and im going to change it tonight. question is...any tips or tricks i should know about before changing this sensor? thanks.
I just changed both front abs sensors on my 2001 F-250. It took about 5 mins. or less for each side. Couldn't have been a simpler replacement and I could see nothing that you would have to know or look out for on this job. By the way the abs light didn't clear after the replacement until after I drove the truck but it cleared within a few seconds after I pulled out and has been okay since.
well my light is still on. tried clearing it with a good snap on scanner. i also disconnected the left side just to make sure they were'nt switched somehow. the light comes on without moving the truck so i dont think its the ring gear & the magnet looked pretty clean on the sensor i removed. i looked over the wiring nothing looks burnt or cracked....any thoughts? how about the control module? any way of testing it?
heres the code i get C1445 "speed sensor input failure"
If your scanner can read the ABS module codes, it should be able to clear them.
I've heard that if you put a DVOM on AC volts, put the probes on the sensor wires and spin the wheel the sensor should make a small amount of AC voltage. I think it should increase with the wheel speed.
If your sensor is OK and you are still getting the code, the problem has to be in the wiring.

Have you checked the speed sensor in the rear differential that does control ABS too?
According to this web page C1445 is a" vehicle speed sensor circuit failure"
