I have a 2009 E450 cut away van with a motor-home. I am looking at installing the ford upfitter switches but I am not able to find the correct connector behind the dash. Removing the radio and the storage tray/coin tray, I found connector C2142 (trailer brake connector) but I cannot find C2388 (upfitter switch connector). Everything I have read says it is in every vehicle and the location is very high behind the dash. While it is not easy to get there, I am not able to find it. Anybody else have this problem?
Not familar with the 2009's but is it possilble removing the radio would be helpful locating that onnector? I know removing the dash trim panel running across the instrument cluster, heater controls and radio bay reveals a lot of connectors sometimes not used during original manufacture.
Is it possible as a cutaway when the living quarters were installed that connector was removed or used for something else?
Thanks for the reply JWA, I have the radio out but can not see anything. The coach builder appears to have followed Ford's instructions regarding their hook ups to the vehicle wiring. Ford does a great job of providing circuits and "blunt cut wiring as well as connectors for the coach builders. Their instructions are very explicit as to where and how to connect to the vehicle. I think I will try your suggestion as to the instrument panel removal. Thanks.
Hope that helps------I know first time finding some of those connectors or blunt cut wires can be tough. Try looking for the CTO wire under the hood without knowing where its supposed to be!
