Where is a TFI located on a 2001 ford ranger 4L?
My dad is out of town with a friend. W live in Florida they are broke down in North Carolina and they called me to look the above question up can anyone please help me?
If they really mean the ignition module, afaik there isn't one on a 2001. I believe that they are now part of the computer -- changed in 96 when they went to obd2.
If they're having ignition troubles, I'm pretty sure that the computer(pcm) triggers the coil directly.
Maybe a 2nd phone call is in order for clarification.
TFI= "Thick Film Integrated" module, mounted to the side of the distributor. If this is the cause of a "no fire" and needs to be replaced make sure to use dielectric compound (to dissipate heat) on the mounting surface.
