Yes it works! Not sure about the '53 but the F1 fits good. I put my '48 on a S10 chassiswith little problem. mounts are a matter of how low you want the body to sit. The one drawback is that the rear framerails kick up and requires you to raise the bed floor.

Several of us have asked the same question and received some good feedback about the trouble that comes with swapping frames.

I'm sure the others will chime in soon.

We're a good group to be part of, with lots of information available. Try the search function as well, it helps a lot.

Welcome to FTE.

Well not exactly. I was trying to make a joke. ha...ha...ha... Guess it's all business around here. I found it very interesting that he'd take a Ford body and choose a Ford engine/trans and use a GM chassis. Just the irony in it. Probably would have thought much of it at all if he'd said he was using a Ford chassis. Sorry for having a sense of humor. Like have and ALWAYS say... do with it what you want, I'm not her eto tell you what to do.

My personal opinion is that the S10 was a piece of s*** when it was new and a bigger piece of s*** when it's used. Why anyone would want to mount their truck cab to a piece of s*** is beyond me but, it's your ride, do with it as you please. There is really no right or wrong way, just the factory way and the expensive way. If the S-10 frame came withy your truck, give it a shot, what'cha got to loose? If this is something you're puttin together on paper and haven't committed yet, all I say is just give it some good thought. Sometimes getting the body to accept the chassis is harder and more $$$ than gettin the suspension to work in the old chassis. Tis totally up to you.

Helped a friend of mine put a Buick Regal chassis under is '50 3-window Plymouth. The frame looked like a turd within a twinkie but it sat how he wanted it, and gave him the drivetrain he wanted. So be it. I helped him get it all set up and he was very happy with it. So be it, its his car and that's what matters.

John, you are great at writing articles, so why don't you get another truck and do a frame swap on it and write the experience up for everyone.

I have to agree with you dano, that the S-10, in stock form, is a pile of excrement. However, I do have to disagree, with the notion that the frame is not a worthy candidate for a transplant. It is a very solid frame assembly, and is actually the closest of ANY newer frames to the exact wheel base of the 110" F-100 of the mid fifties. Personally, the S-10 I had was far from a pile of pooh, but that was after putting it on a '73 3/4 ton frame and complete drivetrain. It handled the 39" mud tires, and the 350HP 350 quite well. The Ranger step side bed of the mid nineties was almost an exact match in body line, and looked very good behind the '83 S-10 cab. It was especially fun driving over an old LTD in the wrecking yard. Back to the point at hand, the only actual downfall of the S-10, was the 2.8 in the first run. The chassis, and suspension of a 4x4 S-10 would make for an excellent donor for an AWD F-100, and just about any engine/tranny could be made to fit. That, would make for a very slick little sleeper, in my opinion, and only in my opinion.

I knew someone would have the swap. Good find Bob. That looks like it may be the one I was thinking about. Sometimes I have a case of CRS ( Can't Remember S---). chuck

well, im not in this forum to fight or argue one way or the other, like i said, i have done the m11 on another project and it turned out great. that truck is running around texas somewhere now. I just wanter to try this project and see how it comes out. i have alot of knowledge of fabrication and design, and would like to come up with nice mounts and parts that could possibly help someone else out later on. i know there is companies out there producing these parts, but there is always better ways and ideas.

Don't get discouraged and leave the forum. I've seen from past threads about frame swaps the brissels seem to stand up on quite a few of the necks on here but there are many darksiders that like to see this sort of stuff. You've got the fabrication skills to do it so please do it and make believers out of those who have a hard time thinking it's not worth doing.
I for one believe you can.
