I am currently working on a 1953 ford f100 on a s10 frame.
i am using a 1986 ford 351 with aod tranny.
i was wondering if anyone has done the swap on the frame and if it was possible to get cab mount and running board mount blueprints or sketches.
i can wait and design them myself, but would like to get a heasd start on them if possible.
Why do amateurs always want to swap frames?
Do they get this idea from watching TV?
Why dose it only have to be ameteurs that swap frames? Perhaps, the vehicle was purchased with the S-10 frame already. Rather than insulting the fellow FTE members, offer some useful insight, not degrading remarks. I've swapped frames, numerous times, and am not an ameteur. Thousands of people do the same, and are not. The aftermarket has also provided excellent custom frames for purchase.

It is a good thing to ask first before jumping in the deep end and without the proper knowledge a frame swap does seem to be the easier way.
Nothing wrong with asking, we`re here to spread info on our old beasts.
Not quite sure, but it sounds like he might have bought a truck already on an S-10 frame. I know from experience that knowledge about these trucks isn't innate. When I was looking for a truck, I googled '48 ford F1' and was directed here. I was looking for a cool truck and wanted some of the amenities I've come to enjoy, so i figured a frame swap was the way to go.
Now, one rust bucket and almost two years on this forum later I recognize the absurdity of a frame swap.
As for the OP, you might look for an original chassis (one on the HAMB was posted yesterday) to transfer your body to, or if you have the original frame, you might look at an IFS upgrade, disks etc. There will be more info coming about the myriad of upgrades available. Good Luck!
what we need.... what we REALLY need is for one of the fine folks that did the frame swap to detail it in an article... with advice on what to look for... hurdles that have to be overcome... steps (with pictures) of that overcomeing and then all the reasons they would never consider doing it again ... as well as the time and cost involved in the fabrication/construction of parts and pieces needed
THAT'S what we really need... not some wetting of the floor !
any frame swap guru's wanna take this on ??? hmmmm????
later

Back in about about 2006, there was another site, many on here used along with FTE as they talked about it. I think the owner died and it was shut down. There was a member that had a American Indian sounding name that detailed the entire S-10 frame swap. The ending pictures looked like the front wheels set to far inboard. Funny car look. Not for me, so I didn't save it. Anyone remember? chuck

never seen any blueprints for a ford truck, seen some floating around for older chevy`s. your probably on your own on this part, if you can post up some pictures, would really like to see your build!!
Hellfire has an s10 frame under his 48 doesn't he. I've done a frame swap using a 72 chevy c10. I think there is pitfalls with any swap and reasons for doing them, mine was ignorance, just didn't know what I was up against but did figure it out. The S-10's frame from what I've read is easy to adjust for wheel base because the rear section of the frame slides onto the front section and I'm sure with the use of wheel spacers or offset rims would help with the tracking width. Placement of cab mounts and the like would only be careful measurements which I'm sure we could provide.

first of all im not an amatuer.
i had built a 1949 f100 with mustang front in previosly.
not only that , but i do mechanicla work on the side, away from my full time job as a toolmaker, and machine build specialist.
i am qualified in welding and also cad/cam and solid works.
i think before you speak you might just want to think a bit.
i went this road, because it seems like it might be fun, and parts for the s10 are very easy to come by if needed when on the side of the road.
