Well, the truck has been fine since the the Head Gaskets and BPD. I was headed back to Phoenix down the 87. I was climbing the hill to the top of Mt. Ord. Near the top, big explosion under the hood. I knew what it was right away. A clamp on the Turbo broke. No power. I limped to the pull off area. called AAA for the ride home. He pulled up in a big Ford flatbed. I asked him if he has had many problems with his. He had 290K miles on it and he said he has had no issues at all. I was in disbelief, then he said it had a Cummins in it.
Spare clamps are cheap - good to have one in an on-board toolbox.
That particular failure is no big deal unless you are over boosting w/ a possible turbo problem.
Lots of people have reached 200k+ miles on a 6.0L without any significant issue. However, seems like injector life is in the 200k to 250k mile range - when treated to good fuel pressure and clean oil!
Did you replace the clamp during your head job? You could have over torqed the clamp and it broke after being heated up and expanding. I don't see this as a ford problem. But go on complaining and i'm sure someone will give you some cheese for your whine!
