I have a 2005 with 112k miles on it. It recently stalled on me and shuttered and almost stalled on me. I talked to a ford tech and he told me it might be the CPS or the ICP going bad. I have both parts but i need to know where both are located at on my truck. Any help would be appreciated. Also when I ran a scan with my SCT tuner It didn't throw a code.
You don't have a CPS, you have a CMP. Location: hidden behind p/s pump on the driver's side. Held in by a 8mm bolt. It is very long. You need a 1/4 inch drive ratchet w/ an 8mm socket (swivel socket works best) and a long extension. If the sensor is leaking oil, Ford sells the o-rings seperately. Takes two per sensor.
The CMP rarely fails. I wouldn't install it until you did some more troubleshooting. Since y0u have the ICP, then go ahead and install it. If that doesn't work, then go through the "No Start" thread in the Tech Folder. It could be something else (FICM, HPO leak, etc).
