I HAVE 2 6.0 TRUCKS, ONE OF WHICH HAS CRACKED HEADS AND IS LEAKING DIESEL INTO THE COOLANT. SINCE IT IS A 2003 WITH 350,000 MILES; I WANT TO JUST REPLACE THE ENGINE COMPLETELY...ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
Is everything else in such good shape that you really want to replace the engine? It may be a better deal to find a lower mileage truck. I have seen some 2006 6.0's going for 25k or so. Also I have seen some 2003's w/ 150k go for 12k or so, which is at least what a new engine will cost you.
What shape are the injectors in, .... and the turbo?
THE TURBO AND INJECTORS HAVE WELL OVER 100K SINCE REPLACING THEM. MY DIESEL SHOP SAYS THEY CAN PUT IN A LOW MILEAGE(50K) ENGINE FOR $6,500 TOTAL COST WITH A WARRANTY. I APPRECIATE ANY THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT, AS I WANT TO MAKE THE RIGHT MOVE.

I don't know where you're located, but if you have salt on the roads in the winter, while the engine is out take the oil pan off and have it kevlar coated .
$800 to replace it on an installed engine and mine looks like crap ... I can almost put my finger through it.
Cheaper if you do it yourself but it looks like a right pain for anyone but a seasoned wrencher.
maybe have them do the oil cooler etc while its out. have all the current tSB installed that way you will have an up to date engine or as close to it as possible. Just a thought.
