problem starting when cold
I have a 1976 Ford F250 needs to start everytime needed, its used for emergency uses. Weather is getting colder here now, and engine starts when its warm, but not easily when cold.
Wondering since its older if plugging in a block heater might work? We do that for older fire engines, wondering if it might work in this case??

Is your choke working? it's probably electric unless someone converted it to manual, if electric it should be almost completely closed when engine is cold and slowly open as engine heats up, if it's manual then obviously you decide when to open/close the choke. (using a block heater certainly doesn't hurt in cold temps).

Remove your choke housing and spray carb cleaner inside until it's good and clean. Everything should move freely. Be careful to make sure the metal hook on the coil and is looped around the choke lever.
