I have a 76 f150 4x4 w a 360FE 2bbl. I got it in the winter. and when i first started it, it would take a long while to warm up. the choke is not hooked up. i just blamed it on cold weather. but now im in 80-90deg weather, and it still takes just as long to warm up as when i was in 15-30deg weather. is it just in need of a carb adjustment or what?
You still need a choke even in warm weather. It's not only ambient temperature relative to the season that matters, but also the engine's standing temperature vs. operating temperature. When the engine has been sitting overnight, even in the summer months, it's still not even at half the temperature that it will get to. It makes a world of a difference. I will grant you that the choke is less necessary in the summer months, but that's a relative term - just because it's more crucial in the winter doesn't mean it's not important to have year-round.
thanx yall. i thought that might've been it. but wasnt sure. i asked because i no fellers that have carburated engines with there chokes not hooked up or in working order and it dont take them have the time to warm up that it takes me. thanx anyway though yall.
