On mine I ended up doing a saginaw pump conversion with a bracket out of a van with a 460. . I used an L&L bracket for the alternator and took a 1/4 out of the spacer and it all lines up fine. If you need a pick of the alternator it will have to wait till morning it's dark out here all ready. Here's the best pic I have.

to somewhat threadjack, what are people doing that also want to keep a/c? Looks like your way puts the ps pump right where the ac pump is.

I used this style power steering bracket. Redrilled the top hole & made a small bracket to move the bottom bolt up and tilted it up some. Had to cut a chunk out of the end with the draw stud and weld it back in so it would move down farther in the slots so it would tighten up. The pump is a 351M-400 Sag conversion pump with the long shaft & a different can from a junk yard pump. I made the alt bracket from some of the 400's bracket & some fabrication. Lot of work but it can be done without buying the expensive L&L brackets.

Yes the van brackets just bolt right on. No messing with it required. The worst thing I had to do was get a hose made at the hydraulic shop. No biggie it's standard stuff if you stick with the earlier Saginaw that does not have an o-ring fitting on the pump.

If the back resivour bolts are metric it's o ring for sure. There is two and sometimes one bolt. Rebuilt pumps are pretty cheap. The brackets will all work as long as it's a canned ham style pump. This is what came with a Saginaw. I know there are more but this is my list. Also if you are going for a pump be mindful of the cars with hydro boost. They have two returns in the can. Also if you are going to buy a rebuilt make sure you find a Saginaw at the yard and snag the two resiviour bolts. A rebuilt pump won't come with them.

Saginaw P/S pump:

1973: Thunderbird/Continental Mark IV.

1974: LTD/Mercury Marquis 460 & Thunderbird/Continental Mark IV.

1975: LTD/Mercury Marquis 400; 460-without A/C / Thunderbird/Continental Mark IV.*

1976: LTD/Mercury Marquis 351/400/460 with or without Hydro-Boost / Thunderbird/Continental Mark IV.

1977/78: LTD/Mercury Marquis 351/400/460 with or without Hydro-Boost / Continental Mark V 400/460.

1979 Continental Mark V 400.

1973/79 Lincoln Town Car.

1977 Econoline from serial number O40,001 / 1978/91 Econoline.

LTD includes Country Squire/Country Sedan / Mercury Marquis includes Colony Park.

1975 to 78 Econlines

Even if it has an Oring, it can be done with off the shelf parts from Summit/Jegs. I made up a hose using fittings and Powerflex hose from Russell.
