PHP VS DP or other tuner
I bought a DP chip used many moon ago when I owned my SD. It was tuned for my PCM code and worked well. But I had a chance to have Jody update it at a live tune (without live tuning) for a small fee. That small fee became much smaller after Jody burned my chip, and added a tune, and I never had any complaints about the tunes or the service.
The reason I have Tyrant tunes on my current truck is because of the almighty dollar... I got into my chip setup for an extremely low rate, much like when I had DP tunes on my SD. I'm convinced I could not get tunes any cheaper than I have right now... and time will tell how I like them. I would certainly be willing to let Jody have a shot at it again if I could swing another chip and felt like switching things around.
of your truck without "fine tuning" it. Some get lucky and get away with "canned" or "semi custom" tunes. Not everyone has a generic one-size-fits-all tune. What works for one may not work as well for others. I have done a few mods that are "one off" from the norm. Taking this into consideration, live tuning is the only way to get my combination of mods to work together. I am more than pleased with the outcome now.
Unless some major mods are my future, I'm "tuned out" for the time being and will enjoy the great running truck I have now.
Thanks, Jody and Diane!
If it's hard to get a hold of them when your ordering-it's gonna be worse when you have a problem.
Ask questions. Be clear about what your after.
It SUCKS to ask a question and get no response-or some short response that barely touches on what you were asking.
If it seems like they always have something going on that's more important-keep trying and find someone else!
bottom line is make some calls, ask some questions pick your pony and ride.
and if you live close to Bill, spend the extra coin to have him tune it on his dyno. Smooth usable power with very little smoke.
