So I had to sell my last superduty due to the fact I wanted something that was clean, comfortable, and had A/C. I was stationed in England and only drove the truck when I was home on leave and just decided that I should sell it. So this past week I decided I wanted another vehicle that was just something that was nicer than the superduty I had. So I ended up getting a 2001 Ford Excursion Limited. So far I love it, even though it is still a gas truck.
It still needs a lot of little things though. The owners before me had kids, so the carpet is dirty. I shampoo'd it the best I could as well as trying to get out all the grease from the fellow that drove it. It also needs a driver side mirror, but I plan on getting the superduty mirrors b/c these dont stick out far enough for me to see. The front seat will also need to be recovered because its torn. Other than that it has its a nice truck.
Nice looking truck. Had I been a bit more patient when I got mine, I likely would have the same exterior as do you.
I agree on the mirrors. The tow mirrors are MUCH better than these standard mirrors.
Oh, and welcome to the Excursion club.
Thanks! Yea, these mirrors arent any good. To be a large vehicle it really needs the superduty towing mirrors.

Figure out my blower motor for my front A/C, and replace the brakes for now. I thought about lifting it a little but will have to see how things go. For now Im looking into making it a good daily driver.

Nice truck, you also have the most beautiful color found on any Excursion, ask me how I know?
Just a tip from another new owner....if you plan on washing/waxing it hire a young kid with strong arms to do it......
Im glad you mentioned it, because it needs to be waxed bad! But luckily im still young, so might have the wife and I do it before we move to Kansas.

So again, welcome... and enjoy the ride!
Thank you for the valuable information. I love your excursion as well!
That's my favorite color. What front end gaurd is that? That's something I've been looking for
Thank you, and I believe the brush gaurd is a ranch hand one. I love it. It eases my worries about the deer that run out around here.
Also, has anyone ever had problems with the A/C blower motor. I think the magneto in it is bad. It will randomly stop working (more so when I shut the truck off and start it back up). I can give it a tap with a small hammer or a budge with my hand and it will start working but wont blow hard. I took it out and checked what looks to be like a magneto, and it looks like it has a bad connection. Its grooved and seems to lost the coating. All the copper wires were covered in dust and the cooling hose was also filled with crap. So I cleaned it all out and and its still doing the same thing. I can hook it up to a 12v power source and it will spin like it should, but then slow down and barely spin. So Im assuming there's something wrong with the motor itself. Might go to the junkyard today and try to get another one to replace it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I installed a new blower motor and got the front AC working again. I put hood struts in (best $3 investment). Installed a factory CD player as well as an AUX input so I can listen to my iPod.
