Tranmission woes
I have a 05 exp 4.6, and the trans has started to shift hard(more of a shudder then slam) going into 3rd was wondering if anybody had an idea of what might be wrong? read up on the usual culprits and not quite sure any of them are my problem. thanks in advance for the help.

Possibly one of the 4 shift solenoids. Get the codes pulled and there should be info in that. No, the parts stores can't pull those codes They have to be pulled with a better reader. Those have come down in price though so you may find someone other than a dealer who has one.
