EBPV Question

I posted the following under the delete thread also..am in the middle of this and need some answers..Thanks...

Question....if you decide to weld the pedestal ...do you have to weld the hole where the rod comes out and the other larger end where the snap ring and cover plug are ? I saw one video where the guy tapped the rod hole for 1/4" pipe threads, put in a plug, then re-installed the large plug and snap ring on the other end... also have seen the large end cut off at an angle and welded shut along with the small rod hole..either way..no problem (am a heliarc welder by trade)...do aluminum pressure work daily...just want to know what works best...

Also when you drop out the butterfly from the turbo outlet (just ground out the 2 rivets & removed it and the shaft....is all I need to do to complete this operation is install a 3/4" freeze plug in the one side to seal it up.. I noticed there is a small snap ring/split ring on the outside of the bushing..I assumed that it can be removed too...

Those solutions will work just fine.

The main thing is just to make sure you got the valve, rod, and bushings out. Then just plug the hole by whatever method you prefer.

My friend was swapping to a larger turbo after blowing up his stock one, so I just took his upper freeze plug and put it in the lower hole on my housing. Then I welded it in just to be sure.

There shouldn't be a too much pressure there unless you are still running a clogged up catyltic converter.

Mine was leaking oil all down the back of my engine. Therefore, my thoughts were "get rid of anything that can later cause an oil leak. I removed everything, cut the crap out of it with a sawzall and grinder, welded up the holes. No More Leaks

Thanks, Cowmilker... She is still a work in progress. She has been somewhat neglected in the past, but I intend to fully restore her.
