It was all integrated into the main harness, all wrapped with that black electrical tape from the factory, ending in the female part of the 4-pin connector, from there the clock plugged in with the male 4-pin in the pics. To make the E1TF clock work, I just spliced the wiring together, all the wire colors matched. I should have taken pics of the harness when I put it in, but I could take some next week when I install my new F700 dash pad.
F700 dash pad? I'm guessing it is one you found at a salvage? If so, how late did they use the same one? I badly need a new pad but don't want to pay $400.

Yes it is, it's coming out of a '96 I believe, in pristine condition. They used the entire '80-'86 interior until the year 1999 or 2000, although there are a few pieces that are medium duty specific. I'll be grabbing it along with the instrument cluster that has the 75MPH speedometer and the diesel tach that I'll use to repair my gas one. Most everything will swap over, only difference is the radio bezel on the medium duty had a larger top to accommodate toggle switches on some, the piece under the steering column holds the throttle ****, and the cluster bezel has a place for an air brake **** where our gas pickups have a cubby hole and the diesels have the "wait to start" and "water in fuel" lights.
As for the dashes, you'll probably have to paint to match, after the '80s most of the F600-900 had strictly gray interiors. Earlier ones could sometimes be had the same color as the pickups.
1980-1983: F-100
1980-1986: F-150/F-350 and Bronco
1980-1999: F-600/F-900
Door Panels, Windshields, Back Glass, Cab Roof Marker Lights, etc... also

Ranger 1980:
I would be very interested in seeing the two harness connectors located on the dash, just to the right and below the heater controls. C-725 in the diagrams.

Seeing as how the 1980 radio plugs were a two-pin rubber connector, the four-pin "trailer" connector for the clock doesn't surprise me.

The 1981 has those rubber radio connectors as well. Just not for the clock.
I have no doubt the clock and four pin plug is Ford. Ford was using those type 4 pin and 7 pin plugs years before the aftermarket sector. I'm trying to figure out why my Ford parts book states the E1TZ-15000-A clock kit will fit 1980-1982.
I just came back from the wrecking yard, and saw a 1980 with a build date of 12/79. It has the same two courtesy lamp/clock connectors at the bottom of the dash behind the heater panel as my 1981.
So a E1TF clock and harness could plug into the main harness there from what I'm seeing from that junk yard specimen.
Could you confirm Shaun, that your truck also has those two connectors for the courtesy lamp group and clock to the right of, behind and just below the heater controls attached to the bottom dash support. I want to make sure someone didn't hack a 1981-1982 harness in this 1980 etc...
What was weird with this 1980, is someone hacked a E3TF-15000-A clock in the dash and hard wired it into the main harness when those two connectors were at the bottom of the dash unused since the truck was built. But Ah well...
Hmmm... Mine has a build date of 11/79, maybe they changed them the next month? After all, November and December were still pretty early in the 1980 run, perfect timing for some last minute changes. The clock harness definitely does not run down by the heater controls like the one I pulled it from, it's all wrapped up un the wiring going across the dash.

Well, the clock harness wouldn't have to change from what you have and wouldn't have to run down by the heater controls for those connectors I speak of to still be present down by the heater.
Your truck has the courtesy light group, with headlamp on buzzer and two underdash lights correct?
The 1980 I saw yesterday did not have the courtesy lamp group, and no four "trailer" wire connector was present for the clock coming out of the main harness. Those two connectors were present however below the heater panel, both empty.
It's possible my book is in error stating the clock kit fits 1980-1982. The kit contains the clock and short harness, so it might be different than a factory installed clock as well. Just trying to find out which.

My truck was assembled on December 20, 1979, and it did indeed have the two plastic connectors at the bottom dash support. The only rubber connector I had was for the radio, and I swapped that out for a plastic one.
My parts truck was a 1982, and the light group was a direct plug in for me, and so was the 1982 clock. I never was able to get the clock working, but I know the wires had power all the way into the clock.

It does have the headlamp on buzzer, but no courtesy lamps. I've done a lot of poking around in and under the dash, but haven't found any empty connectors for anything, of course that wasn't what I was looking for either. I'll have to check it out again.
