Trying to take the passenger side inner fender out. I have all but one bolt left and it's being a PITA. The 3 bolts that bolt the inner fender to the cab are the ones. One of them came out just fine, another I twisted the head off of, and the 3rd started to come out but now just spins. I assume there is a floating nut plate back there and it rusted out and doesn't have anything to hold onto. I looked under the dash but can't see were the backs are. I was thinking about cutting the head off so I can pull the inner fender off. I think there is a bit more rust in that area than I had originally thought and may need to put a patch panel in place.
Can anyone confirm if the backs of these bolts are accessible from inside the cab?
I pulled the glove box out and it doesn't look like I can get into that area. It's a sealed area and it looks like the only way to get in there is to drill out some spot welds and pull a boxed area out of the wheel well. Can anyone confirm?
I just cut the bolt off and pulled the fender out. Looks like it'll be a fun repair cutting the cancer out and putting a new piece in. I bet it'll be doubly fun to drill the holes and weld in some nut plates for proper alignment.
i had the same problem replacing the passenger side of my f-250 i just cut a small slot just around the corner towards the door it would seem easier to fix that than tear everything else apart that way you can cut out the cancer and get a 1/4 inch plate with the nuts welded in the right spots then just weld the plate to the cab.
