Those are grommets that are in the firewall for bolts/nuts. For the life of me, I can't remember what exactly they help hold, but they belong on the firewall.
I was thinking it went on the end of the arm from a window crank and slides in that thingy a bob(track) at the bottom of the glass. Will there be a prize at the end of this contest, lol
i'm leaning toward the firewall grommets which i did around the same time. the firewall padding went around them and now i rem taking the padding and the grommets out. must have stuck them in the door hardware jar. the prize may be grommets themselves since i don't plan to put them back. thanks for helping me with the puzzler. dick r.
Is it threaded? If I'm not mistaken, that's one of the "cup" nuts or washer that holds the pedal-to-carb linkage through the firewall. There should be two of them.
Ilya is right, but it's not threaded. Inside the cab - bolt from the accel pedal cross shaft goes thru the firewall, into the cup. Nut inside the cup secures the assembly to the firewall. The depth of the cup is to accomodate the firewall padding.

thanks to all. you jogged my memory. when i took the nuts off those cups the throttle linkage about fell off the other side of the firewall. i put the nuts back without the cup, whatever. don't intend to put them back so 51 panelman, if you would like to claim them for your prize, email me your snail mail and i'll send them off to you. congratulations. dick r
So, when I was working on my '49 earlier today, I noticed exactly two of these holding the firewall insulation. They straddle the tranny floor plate and don't have any relationship to the linkage.
