OIL COOLER!!!
There was hardly any warning. The Delta was within 15'F all day the first day. I checked my gauges as we pulled away from customs and noticed the oil temp was 230 and the coolant was 202'...... Pulled over shut it down and let it cool for a while.
Started back up, few more miles and the dreaded wrench light comes on so I pulled over and shut it down. When I popped the hood it was coming out the DEGAS bottle. Nasty gold lava. Checked the oil and the stick was dry.
1700 dollar tow bill and a week long stay in a nice camp ground THAT WE DONT WANT TO BE IN.
So, what a retarded method to cool engine oil. Why?!?!?!? Was this an engineers idea while on a serious drinking binge??? Why not a simple....tried and true oil radiator??? I think it would fit great right behind those holes in the bumper that serve no Damn purpose.
Plugged oil cooler what you can see with your gauges
and a popped oil cooler it can happen with no warning at all and is the worse of the 2
man I was really hopen to see you make problem free it on your million mile marathon

alternator sucks from the word go
if you run aanything but a stock truck it needs an Alternator upgrade
IDK about other trucks
any of them if they have that DPF stuff
Id try a Duraslap before a Dodge
Iv had good luck with chev products all were gas though
I agree, it's one of the worst designs (from a maintenance standpoint) I've ever seen. It's criminal that they would hide an obviously weak component deep inside the engine instead of making it easy to get to. If i had to bet I would venture that they were able to save $10 on hoses and another $30 on a heat exchanger by burying it. Sadly, companies like Ford/GM don't engineer for durability, rather they are beholden by bean counters and are forced to cut corners which cost the end user in the end.
