Tow/Haul Light flashing
So I was driving my truck the other day and my tow haul starts blinking, truck goes in link mode and I can't get out of 2nd or 3rd gear not sure. Go home undo battery for a while and take it out for a spin. I'm driving fine for a long time until I hit 40-45 MPH then the check engine light comes on and the tow/haul flashes again, back to limp mode. Happens over and over.
Go to the shop and am told it's some solenoid thing and it will cost $550 for a new one with the possibility there could be more damage to the tranny. That would be 3K for a rebuilt one. I do trust the shop. After researching the problem here I found it could be a sensor... Guy at shop said the solenoid and sensor are the same thing. Well my truck was also misfiring he says, 6 plugs aren't working right and that they usually don't last 100k as stated. Cost for that is $500 with motorcraft plugs installed.
Since I got laid off I don't have much cash right now and am hoping this guy is right. I've never towed anything and treat the vehicle like a baby. It's a F-250 Lariat 2005 short box V-10.84K miles. I would like to think a Ford tranny last longer than that !?!?!?!?!?! My wararnty ran out at 75K I believe.
Any thoughts ?
