I was driving yesterday all over town, long highway then stop & go. while on the highway I would notice that it felt like I would lose just a little power but it would come right back when i gave it more gas going about 65 mph. While going with the cruse on I would notice that my engine would surge up and down about 3-4 RPMs. Well at the end of the day almost to my house she stalled at a red light. when i would try to starter it would almost start but fill like she just isn't getting enough gas. At one point I got her started and she made it about 50 feet then stalled again. So I went home and came back about 2 hours later. She cranked right up and made it 2 miles all the way home like their was nothing wrong. i live in TX so the temp. was about 104. I have been experience this for about 3 weeks that some times she would feel like she is running out of gas and start slowing down but then come right back. What suggestions do you guys have?
Fuel filter? TFI/ICM over temp? This one could be a few things. I'd run a KOEO and see if there are any specific issues that the ECM "knows" about before guessing. Its got the earmarks of a thermal issue, however, whether its electrical or fuel related is a coin-toss without some input from the truck itself.
Thanks greystreak. Does anybody else have an opinion? My opinion is that it is the High pressure pump. ( i guess that is what it is called) you know, the one that charges and maintains operating fuel pressure. My next question is, if that pump begins to go bad, would it throw a code?
